David Payne out of IPL 2026 due to ankle injury
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has suffered a major setback mid-season in the Indian Premier League. The team’s star fast bowler, England player David Paine, has been ruled out of the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season due to an ankle injury. The franchise has officially announced this. On its Twitter handle, SRH wrote, “Official announcement: David Paine has been ruled out of the TATA IPL 2026 due to an ankle injury. We wish him a speedy recovery.”
David Paine played two matches for SRH this season, taking two wickets at an average of 35.00, with a best performance of 2/35. Coincidentally, Paine himself joined the team due to an injury to Australian all-rounder Jack Edwards, who was ruled out of the season. Paine has played just one ODI for England, and in addition, he has played 235 T20 matches, taking a total of 306 wickets. He joined SRH for ₹1.5 crore.
KKR struggled due to bad luck, says Kartik Tyagi
KKR pacer Kartik Tyagi says the team has struggled to build momentum in IPL 2026 because they have missed key chances and had a bit of bad luck. Heading into their match against Gujarat Titans, Tyagi believes the squad needs stronger intent and more consistency if they’re going to turn things around in the current season.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, he admitted they’ve let close games slip and are still hunting for their first win of the season. “Honestly, there’s some luck involved too. We’ve lost a few matches that could’ve gone either way, including the last one. We need to show better intent now. We haven’t won a single match yet. Nobody’s happy about it, honestly. But we’re all trying to figure out where we go from here,” he said.
