Mitchell Starc has been a hot property in the Indian Premier League (IPL). More so, since he bowled Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to the title in 2024. He was bought for INR 11.75 crore in the IPL 2025 crore auction by Delhi Capitals (DC) as they hoped that the premier pacer would do a similar job for them. However, it did not pan out that way, as DC missed the playoff spot, but Starc ended up with 14 wickets in the season, the second-most for the team.
Starc missed the initial stages of IPL 2026 due to elbow and shoulder injuries. But on his return to the team against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on May 1 (Friday), he took just three deliveries to make an impact as Yashasvi Jaiswal fell prey just two balls after smashing a six.

Jaiswal and Baibhav Sooryavanshi have been brilliant this season, having put on 457 runs together this season. However, after Jaiswal, Sooryavanshi too fell cheaply in the next over, bowled by Kyle Jamieson.
Starc was excellent in his first spell, conceding just 16 off his two overs in the opening spell. After a sedate start, Riyan Parag and Dhruv Jurel put on 102 off 59 for the third wicket to allow RR to bounce back.
DC have won just one of their last five matches and find themselves seventh on the points table. RR, on the other hand, are fourth with 12 points in nine matches.
