Shabnim Ismail reversed her retirement as South Africa confirmed their 15-member squad for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. Her experience is a bonus for South Africa pace battery. Speaking of the same, their head coach Mandla Mashimbyi stated, “”Looking at the ODI World Cup last year (of which South Africa were the runner-ups), we felt we needed that X-factor. And she definitely carries that. She’s a fighter. Good on the field. And not talking about skills only, the thing she brings out of that skill. This addition will make sure that we’ll fight all the way.”

Australia’s squad for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup raised a few eyebrows as the selectors decided to exclude key pacer Darcie Brown. Instead, they opted for inexperienced Lucy Hamilton. The six-time ICC Women’s T20 World Cup champions are sharing Group 1 with South Africa, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and the Netherlands in the upcoming tournament. In their tournament opener, the Aussies will take on the Proteas on June 13 at Old Trafford in Manchester.
