Report: Hardik Pandya ready for selection in India vs Afghanistan series
The three-match T20 International series between India and Afghanistan will begin on September 13th. All three matches of this T20 International series will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. Team India’s squad for the three-match T20 International series against Afghanistan is expected to be announced on September 3rd. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) selection committee is expected to meet on September 3rd.
Meanwhile, a report has emerged that India’s star all-rounders Hardik Pandya and Nitish Kumar Reddy are fit and available for selection, while Washington Sundar is close to receiving the necessary clearance for the series, which begins in New Delhi on September 13th. According to a report in the Times of India, both Hardik Pandya and Nitish Kumar Reddy are training vigorously at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) and are working at full capacity to prepare for their return to international cricket. As for Washington Sundar, he spent the weekend in Chennai and will report back to the CoE this week to prove his fitness before selection.
Tamim Iqbal expressed optimism on Bangladesh-India series
Former Bangladesh cricketer and current Board President Tamim Iqbal has made a significant statement regarding the series against India. BCB chief Tamim Iqbal is hopeful that Team India will visit Bangladesh to play a bilateral series. He says both boards are looking for a suitable window within their busy schedules.
Iqbal said, “It hasn’t been decided yet that (the series against India) won’t happen. Let me give you some information. Both the boards are very serious about it. Both the BCCI and the BCB are looking at the right time (window). We are thinking about a date and whether it can happen at that time or not. If the intention was negative, then I wouldn’t be saying to you today, ‘Let’s see what happens, we hope.’ I wouldn’t even say those words. The intention is very positive.”
Tilak Varma’s unbeaten century puts South Zone ahead
In the ongoing Duleep Trophy, Tilak Varma scored a remarkable century. South Zone and North Zone are facing off in the semi-finals of the Duleep Trophy 2026. Batting first, North Zone scored 195 runs in their first innings. Kamran Iqbal top-scored for the team with 76 runs. No other batsman passed 50. In response, South Zone reached 285 for 9 at the end of the day’s play.
South Zone’s opening batsmen were dismissed early, but captain Tilak Varma scored a brilliant century. At the end of the day’s play, he had scored 106 runs off 225 balls, hitting seven fours. He remains unbeaten. Meanwhile, Shreyas Gopal scored 88 runs off 169 balls, including 11 fours. However, he missed his century by 12 runs.
Zimbabwe wins a thriller against Namibia
Zimbabwe overcame Namibia in a thrilling match to register their first win in the tri-series. They defeated the hosts by five runs in the third match. Playing first, Zimbabwe scored 195 for six, thanks to Ryan Burl’s 57 and Brad Evans’ 37. In reply, the Namibians collapsed for 190, losing four wickets in the final over. Previously, they needed 16 runs at the end of the 19th over. Chasing the target, Namibia lost six wickets for 76. Zimbabwe’s victory seemed certain. But a 110-run partnership for the seventh wicket between Zane Green (54) and Alexander Bussing-Wallschenk (56) brought Namibia closer to victory. The duo scored quickly, scoring at least 10 runs in every over from the 13th over onwards. Needing 78 runs to win in the last five overs, this total was later reduced to 33 runs in the last two overs.
Mayank Agarwal signs with Durham in County Championship
Experienced batsman Mayank Agarwal, who is out of the Indian Test team, has got a chance to play in England’s county cricket. The 35-year-old has signed with Durham Cricket Club for the final phase of the current County Championship season. He will provide his services for the team in the remaining matches. Durham is currently performing brilliantly in Division Two of the County Championship. The team has won seven out of the 10 matches played so far, while three matches were drawn.
Durham has a huge lead over the second-placed team and has a great chance of returning to Division One. Mayank Agarwal has been included in the squad as a replacement for South African batsman David Bedingham, who is returning home this week due to South Africa’s red-ball season. He recently scored a century against Gloucestershire and played a key role in Durham’s impressive 10-wicket win.
