SL vs IND: A two-Test match series between India and Sri Lanka is set to begin. The first match will be played in Galle starting August 15. With little time left before the opener, Sri Lanka has announced its squad for the first Test (SL vs IND). Although the squad announcement had been awaited for quite some time, it has finally been revealed just three days prior to the match. Team India has already arrived in Galle and commenced its preparations. Dhananjaya de Silva has been entrusted with the team’s captaincy.
Squad announced only for the first Test
Sri Lanka has announced its squad for the Test match against India. While the series comprises two matches, the squad has currently been released only for the first Test. Sri Lanka had been dealing with injuries to some players, which is believed to be the reason for the delay in the announcement. Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that Dhananjaya de Silva will lead the team, with Kamindu Mendis appointed as the vice-captain. The squad also includes spinner Prabath Jayasuriya; Team India’s batsmen will face a real test against him. Niroshan Dickwella has been included in the squad in place of Kusal Mendis, who was ruled out of the first Test due to injury. Dickwella returns to the Test team after almost three years.
Two changes made to the Indian squad
The Indian squad for this series had already been announced, though two changes had to be made subsequently. Jasprit Bumrah and Sai Sudharsan have been ruled out of the series. Aukib Nabi and Sarfaraz Khan have been given the opportunity to replace them. India has also played and won a three-day warm-up match. Now, as the two teams face off starting August 15, the players’ form will be put to the test.
