The Asian Cricket Council on Thursday announced the schedule for the Women’s Asia Cup 2026, which begins on August 28. India and Pakistan have been placed in Group A of the Women’s Asia Cup 2026. The two teams will face each other in a high-voltage match on September 5. This will be the sixth edition of the Women’s Asia Cup, played in the T20 format, with eight teams divided into two groups.
India and Pakistan are placed in Group A, along with Thailand and Hong Kong (China), while Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, the UAE, and Indonesia are placed in Group B. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semifinals, with the final match taking place on September 13. All matches will be played under floodlights at the Dubai International Stadium.
India defeated Pakistan in 2012 and 2016
The Women’s Asia Cup began in 2004. The first four seasons were played in the ODI format, which India won. Since then, the competition has been played in the T20 format since 2012. India defeated Pakistan to win the title in 2012 and 2016, followed by Bangladesh, who defeated India in 2018.
In 2022, India won the Women’s Asia Cup for the seventh time, defeating Sri Lanka by 8 wickets. In 2024, the two teams faced off again, but this time, Sri Lanka won by 8 wickets to claim their first title.
