Set up by Prasidh Krishna’s maiden five-wicket haul in One-Day Internationals (ODI), India cruised to a comfortable nine-wicket victory in the third match of the series to complete a 3-0 whitewash in Chennai. Yashasvi Jaiswal (110*) slammed his second ton, while Rohit Sharma (79). Prasidh finished with career-best figures of 5/23 to bundle Afghanistan out for just 218.
Afghanistan skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi (102) slammed an impressive ton and all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai slammed a vital fifty (50) to take their side to a respectable total. No other player, barring Ibrahim Zadran (11) and Mohammad Nabi (21), went past 10.
Clinical India
India wasted very little time in getting on top with the bat. Rohit Sharma (79) took the attack to the opposition right from the beginning, hitting nine fours and three sixes along the way and built a 170-run stand for the first wicket in just under 23 overs.
Jaiswal then took over from Rohit and built an unbeaten 54-run stand with Shreyas Iyer to take India home comfortably.
It has been all India in the series. They won the first game in Dharamsala by seven wickets and followed that up with a 170-run win in the second game in Lucknow before wrapping things up in Chennai.
