Lhuan-dre Pretorius smashed 87 off just 39 deliveries to help San Francisco to a two-wicket victory against Seattle Orcas in Oakland. Pretorius smashed six sixes and nine fours as Unicorns chased down 192 off the last over. He was helped massively in the end by Brody Couch, who smashed an unbeaten 26 off just 14.
He had also bowled an excellent spell with the ball, accounting for the wickets of Matthew Breetzke (51), Shiron Hetmyer (3) and Dasun Shanaka (14) to finish with 3/41.
Pretorius, Hardie resurrect chase
After being reduced to 26/3, Pretorius and Aaron Hardie (28) put on 99 off 48 for the fourth wicket to bring them back into the contest. However, after a wobble, Couch held his nerve in the end to take his side home.
For Orcas, it was their third Major League Cricket (MLC) 2026 loss. They were in an excellent position at the halfway stage of their innings, reaching 138/2, with Shayan Jahangir slamming 62 off 25.
Batting wobble for both sides
Like the Unicorns, they too had a batting collapse and could not even get to 200, despite Breetzke scoring a crucial fifty, after looking set to get to 220-230 at one stage.
Couch was well supported by Ghulam Mudassar (2/15) and Matthew Short (2/12), who bowled vital spells to pull the game back for their side.
The Unicorns will look to win two on the bounce for the first time this season when they take on Washington Freedom next on Jun 29. The Orcas, too are in action on the same day as they look to get back to winning ways against the Los Angeles Knight Riders (LAKR).
