KKR beat Gujarat Titans by 29 runs
The 60th match of IPL 2026 was played between the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and the Gujarat Titans (GT). This match was hosted at Kolkata’s historic venue, the Eden Gardens Stadium, where the KKR team emerged victorious. The Kolkata Knight Riders won this contest by 29 runs. In fact, a victory in this match would have secured a spot in the playoffs for the Gujarat Titans; however, they let this opportunity slip away.
Conversely, by winning this encounter, KKR has kept itself firmly in the race for the playoffs. In the match, GT captain Shubman Gill won the toss. Batting first in this game, the Kolkata Knight Riders posted a total of 247 runs on the scoreboard. In response, the GT team could only manage to score 218 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in their allotted 20 overs, thereby allowing KKR to claim the match.
Finn Allen scored his first half-century
Finn Allen, on Saturday at Eden Gardens, faced 35 balls and scored 93 runs against GT. He hit 4 fours and 10 sixes. His strike rate was 265.71. He shared a 44-run opening partnership with Ajinkya Rahane in 27 balls. He then added 95 runs in just 41 balls with Angkrish. This marked his first half-century of his IPL career, reaching it in 21 balls.
Allen is the third player for KKR to hit 10 or more sixes in an IPL innings. He is the only KKR batsman to have achieved this feat twice. He also hit 10 sixes during his century against Delhi Capitals (DC) this season. He is surpassed only by Andre Russell (11 sixes vs. Chennai Super Kings, 2018) and Brendon McCullum (13 sixes vs. Royal Challengers Bangalore, 2008).
Rishabh Pant fined 12 lakhs
The celebrations following Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) resounding 7-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 59th match of IPL 2026 on Friday were dampened slightly. Following the match, the IPL Governing Council imposed a hefty fine of ₹12 lakh on Lucknow captain Rishabh Pant for maintaining a slow over-rate.
This action was taken in accordance with the IPL Code of Conduct. However, despite this financial setback, Lucknow’s performance on the field was exceptional—a display that has made Chennai’s path to the playoffs significantly more challenging. According to an official statement issued by the IPL, the Lucknow team failed to complete their allotted 20 overs within the stipulated time limit.
