ENG vs NZ: New Zealand won the third and deciding Test match against England at Trent Bridge by 160 runs, thereby clinching the series 2-1 (ENG vs NZ). England had won the first match of the series by 115 runs, after which New Zealand won the next encounter by 253 runs, setting up a decisive final match.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, New Zealand scored 438 runs in their first innings. Captain Tom Latham shared a 317-run partnership for the first wicket with Devon Conway. Latham scored 151 runs, including 15 fours, while Conway played an innings of 157 runs featuring 25 boundaries. For the opposition, captain Ben Stokes claimed the most wickets (4), while Jofra Archer and Shoaib Bashir took two wickets each.

In response, England were bowled out for 354 runs in their first innings. For the visiting team, Ben Duckett scored 113 runs, while Jacob Bethell contributed 74 runs. Additionally, Harry Brook added 58 runs. For New Zealand, Nathan Smith took 4 wickets, while William O’Rourke and Zakary Foulkes claimed three wickets each.

New Zealand wrap up the series 2-1

New Zealand held a significant 84-run lead based on the first innings. The visiting team declared their second innings at 288/9. In this innings, Daryl Mitchell remained unbeaten on 100, while Rachin Ravindra contributed 94 runs. For England, Jofra Archer took the most wickets (4), while Gus Atkinson and Ben Stokes claimed two wickets each.

Chasing a target of 373 runs for victory, England were bowled out for just 212 runs in their second innings on the final day of the match. Ben Duckett (36) shared a 50-run partnership for the first wicket with captain Ben Stokes. Stokes was dismissed for just 30 runs in his final international match. Subsequently, the team continued to lose wickets at regular intervals.

England had lost six wickets by the time the score reached 116; Jamie Smith (60) then attempted to steady the innings by sharing a 75-run stand for the seventh wicket with Atkinson, but the English lineup crumbled again once Atkinson (19) was dismissed. For New Zealand, Zachary Foulkes claimed three wickets in the innings, while Nathan Smith and Mitchell Santner took two wickets each.
