England captain Ben Stokes has achieved an incredible record which only one other player – Jacques Kallis – has completed in Test cricket. He is only the second player in the history of Tests to do the double of 7,000 runs and 250 wickets.

Stokes picked up his 250th wicket in the ongoing Test against New Zealand at Trent Bridge. He finished with 4/70 to help bowl New Zealand out for 438, after their openers had put on 317 for the first wicket. Stokes has 7,228 runs at 34.28, and with the ball, his 250 wickets have come at an average of 31.03 in 122 matches so far.
He is also the ninth England bowler to pick up 250 wickets in Tests.
Kallis, on the other hand, scored 13,289 runs at 55.37, and his 292 scalps came at 32.65. Moreover, he also has 45 centuries to his name.
In fact, only one other player has over 7,000 runs and 200 wickets, and that is the legendary Garfield Sobers. In his 93 Tests, Sobers scored 8,032 runs and picked up 235 wickets between 1954 and 1974.
England missed Stokes’ all-round services in the second Test at The Oval, as his side succumbed to a massive defeat. The series now hangs in the balance at 1-1, and Stokes could once again be required to do the job with the bat.
