Colin Munro slams 34-ball half-century as LAKR get off the mark in MLC 2026

In a match that was reduced to 14-overs per side, Los Angeles Knight Riders (LAKR) emerged victorious against the San Francisco Unicorns in Dallas. Chasing 151, the Knight Riders rode on a superb half-century from Colin Munro (64*) to guide his side home by seven wickets with just two balls to spare.

Munro, who brought up his fifty off just 34 deliveries, put on 70 for the opening wicket with Andre Fletcher (34) to set the tone for the chase. After that, the 57-run stand between Munro and Holder off just 19 balls sealed the match for the Knight Riders.

Asked to bat first, the Unicorns were in a comfortable position in the first six overs, as their opener Lhuan-dre Pretorius (58) and Finn Allen (24) put on 70 off just 34 deliveries. Skipper Matthew Short also chipped in with a useful 30 (20). However, they managed to score just 80 more from the remaining 50 deliveries to end up with a competitive total, but not a match-winning one.

Sunil Narine, with two wickets, was the pick of the bowlers for LA, finishing with 2/33, while the veteran Peter Siddle chipped in with two wickets for the Unicorns.

LAKR will hope to make two in two when they take on Seattle Orcas next on June 21, while San Francisco take on Texas Super Kings on the same day.

Brief scores:

San Francisco Unicorns 150/7 in 14 overs (Lhuan-dre Pretorius 58, Matthew Short 30; Sunil Narine 2/33) lost to Los Angeles Knight Riders 154/3 in 13.4 overs (Colin Munro 64*, Andre Fletcher 34; Peter Sidle 2/27) by 7 wickets
