Just two days ago, Delhi Capitals (DC) registered their highest-ever total in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The smashed 264/2 against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Delhi, but that was not enough in the end. At the same venue today (April 27), DC have succumbed to an all-time low against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). They scored just 13 runs and lost as many as SIX wickets in the powerplay and as a result, they have registered an unwanted record.
DC now have the lowest powerplay total in IPL history.
Lowest Powerplay totals in IPL
13/6 DC vs RCB, Delhi, 2026
14/2 RR vs RCB, Cape Town, 2009
14/3 SRH vs RR, Pune, 2022
15/2 CSK vs KKR, Kolkata, 2011
16/1 CSK vs DD, Raipur, 2015
16/1 CSK vs RCB, Chennai, 2019
Moreover, this is only the second time that a team has lost six wickets in an IPL powerplay. Other than DC, Kochi Tuskers Kerala (KTK) were the only other team to attain this low, and that came against the Deccan Chargers in 2011.
Things have gone extremely well for RCB right from the beginning, with Bhuvneshwar Kumar striking off just the second ball of the match.

Josh Hazlewood then continued the good work, getting two of his first two deliveries of his spell, to reduce DC to 2/3 in just eight balls. Things went from bad to worse for DC as Tristan Stubbs, Axar Patel and Nitish Rana in a span of 11 deliveries, leaving DC in tatters.

Bhuvneshwar finished the powerplay with figures of 3/5, while Hazlewood picked up 3/8. Earlier, RCB skipper Rajat Patidar won the toss and opted to bowl first.
RCB are second on the points table with 10 points from seven matches, while DC are in seventh place with six points in seven games. A loss tonight will see them lose their third match in a row.
