It will be a repeat of the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 final, as India will take on Sri Lanka in the Asian Games 2026 final in Nissin on September 22 (Tuesday). India rode on a historic century from opening batter Shafali Verma in the semi-final to ease past Bangladesh.

Shafali scripts history

In doing so, Shafali not just became the first batter to score a century in the Asian Games but also registered the joint-fastest century for India in Women’s T20Is, getting to the landmark in just 49 deliveries, joining Harmanpreet Kaur. She also became just the third Indian player to score a century in Women’s T20Is after Smriti Mandhana (2) and Harmanpreet Kaur.

Shafali and Mandhana (37) put on 72 for the first wicket in the powerplay. Some late flourish from Harmanpreet (40*) took India to a formidable 195/4.

Bangladesh slump to a new low

Bangladesh never looked in the chase after being reduced to 39/3 in the powerplay. Only opener Dilara Akter (27) got into the 20s, while the rest of the batters failed to get anything significant on the board.

Deepti Sharma was the pick of the bowlers for India with 3/7, while fast bowler Nandini Sharma also chipped in with 3/25. As a result, Bangladesh were bowled out for just 81, with India registering a 114-run victory – their biggest in WT20Is against a full member nation.

SL ease past PAK

In the other semi-final between Sri Lanka and Pakistan, it was Sri Lanka, who registered a thumping eight-wicket victory over Pakistan, chasing down 178 successfully. Skipper Chamari Athapaththu once again led the way with an unbeaten 50-ball 83, while Hasini Perera too chipped in with 42 off 26 to take Sri Lanka home.
