Australia A trail by 163 runs against India A
The Australia A team is currently on a tour of India. The first four-day red-ball match between India A and Australia A is underway at the Puducherry ground. On the second day, Kumar Kushagra scored a century of 113 runs for India A. Shams Mulani then used his spin to keep the Aussies at bay. As a result, Australia A’s first innings was restricted to 171 runs, and Team India, with a 163-run first-innings lead, has now tightened its grip.
India A, captained by Devdutt Padikkal, batted first and scored 257 for five at the end of the first day. Tanush Kotian scored 68 runs and Shams Mulani remained unbeaten on 10 runs. Kumar Kushagra, who had retired hurt after scoring 82 runs due to injury on the first day, decided to bat again on the second day and completed his century against Australia with 12 fours in 202 balls. India A scored a total of 334 runs till lunch with Kushagra’s 113 runs and Tanush Kotian’s 69 runs. For Australia, off-spinner Corey Rocchiccioli took the maximum four wickets for 95 runs in 25 overs, while Todd Murphy took three wickets.
IPL 2027 auction will be held in Goa
The IPL 2027 auction will be held in Goa, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia announced on Wednesday. He said a mini-auction will be held in December. The last three auctions were held outside India: in Dubai in 2024, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in 2025, and in Abu Dhabi in 2026. The date and venue of the auction have not yet been finalized. The BCCI will prioritize the accommodations for the franchises and their delegations when selecting the venue. With October to December being the wedding season in India, finding enough rooms in 5-star hotels will also be a major factor. The BCCI needs over 100 rooms for the two-night auction.
India is the benchmark for Pakistan, says Mike Hesson
Pakistan men’s cricket team head coach Mike Hesson has acknowledged the Indian team’s prowess in the limited-overs format, calling it the new benchmark in world cricket. Just before departing for the 2026 Asian Games in Japan, Hesson said that the biggest challenge for the Pakistani team is to reach the level India currently holds in white-ball cricket and give them a tough fight.
Discussing his strategy and the Indian team’s supremacy, Mike Hesson said, “The Indian team is currently a benchmark in limited-overs cricket, and our challenge is to reach them.” He added, “We are preparing thoroughly so that if we get the chance to play against India, we can put the same pressure on them as we did in the Asia Cup final. However, both teams have a lot of cricket to play before reaching the final, so we’re not thinking too far ahead.”
