Bangladesh are set for their maiden tour of Nepal in March 2027, the boards announced on September 16 (Wednesday). The two teams will play three T20 Internationals (T20I), all at the TU International Cricket Stadium in Kathmandu. The matches will take place on March 26, 28 and 30.
It’s unclear if the matches will take place in the morning or under the newly installed floodlights at the TU.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) released a statement on Wednesday, saying that the series would be dedicated to the victims of floods in Nepal last month.

“The BCB expressed its sympathy for the victims of the devastating floods and recognized the significance of dedicating the series to their memory,” the BCB statement said.
“The three matches will provide an opportunity for Bangladesh and Nepal to come together through cricket and convey a message of friendship and solidarity at a time of great loss.”
Why is it a historic tour?
Nepal and Bangladesh have faced each other twice in T20Is – in the 2014 and 2024 T20 World Cups – with Bangladesh winning both encounters
This will be the first time a full member will tour Nepal for a bilateral series. However, they will welcome India A for a short three-match T20 series, slated to be played on December 9, 11 and 13.
However, this will not be the first time Nepal will be playing a bilateral series against a full member. In fact, Nepal beat West Indies in a three-match T20I series in Sharjah last year.
Nepal on the rise
Things are looking up for Nepal, who also recently qualified for the Asia Cup 2027, beating rivals UAE in the final in Malaysia. They played the Asia Cup in 2023, but did not win any of their two matches.
The Rhinos are still in contention to qualify for the 2027 ODI World Cup as well. They are currently seventh on the ICC CWC League 2 points table, and need to finish in the top four to play the qualifiers.
However, if they fall below that, they can still make the qualifiers through the playoffs.
