Sri Lanka Women held their nerve in a tense finish to defeat Bangladesh Women by four wickets in Match 10 of Group B in the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday. Chasing 115, Sri Lanka reached 115/6 in 19.2 overs, with Harshitha Samarawickrama anchoring the chase with an unbeaten 48 off 37 balls.
Bangladesh, sent in after Sri Lanka won the toss, posted 114/8 from their 20 overs. Sobhana Mostary top-scored with a patient 34 off 41 balls, while Dilara Akter contributed 26 from 26. Juairiya Ferdous provided early impetus with 14 off just 10 deliveries. However, Bangladesh struggled to accelerate consistently after reaching 37/1 in the powerplay.
Sri Lanka’s bowling attack kept Bangladesh under pressure throughout. Chamudi Praboda was the standout performer with 3/21 from four overs, while Sugandika Kumari claimed 2/22. Chamari Athapaththu and Kavisha Dilhari also picked up a wicket apiece as Bangladesh lost wickets at regular intervals.
Harshitha top-scored for Sri Lanka in the chase
Sri Lanka’s chase began badly as captain Athapaththu fell for just one, leaving the side 7/1. Imesha Dulani, Sanjana Kavindi and Vishmi Gunaratne also departed cheaply, reducing Sri Lanka to 41/4. Bangladesh appeared to have seized control when Kavisha Dilhari was run out with the score on 44/5.
But Harshitha changed the complexion of the chase. Her unbeaten 48 provided the stability Sri Lanka desperately needed, while Nilakshika Silva’s 18 helped rebuild the innings. After Silva fell at 82, Kaushani Nuthyangana joined Harshitha and kept the required rate under control. The pair completed the chase with four balls remaining, securing Sri Lanka another valuable Group B victory.
