IND vs SL: The fourth day of the second Test between India and Sri Lanka in Colombo has concluded. After being asked to follow on, the hosts, Sri Lanka, have managed to secure a lead of 16 runs. From this position, a victory for Team India appears almost certain for the fifth day. Play ended early due to rain. Batting in their second innings, Sri Lanka has scored 229 for 6 in 72.4 overs. Sonal Dinusha (07) and Keshara Nuwantha (03) remain unbeaten at the crease.
Sri Lanka began the fourth day with a first-innings score of 265/8. Within about five overs, the team was bowled out for 290, leaving India with a lead of 213 runs. Sri Lanka failed to avoid the follow-on; observing this, Indian captain Shubman Gill enforced the follow-on and invited Sri Lanka to bat again. Team India had previously declared their first innings after posting a massive total of 503/9.
Sri Lanka falters in the second innings too
Sri Lanka failed to make a significant impact in the second innings as well, losing wickets in quick succession. They suffered an early blow at the score of 05 with the loss of Lahiru Udara (03). The second wicket fell at 63 runs. The innings stabilized briefly before the third wicket fell at 178 runs. Pasindu Sooriyabandara and Kamindu Mendis shared a 115-run partnership for the third wicket. During this stand, Pasindu played the team’s highest innings of 92 runs, featuring 10 fours and a six, while Mendis scored 55 runs.

Following this partnership, Sri Lanka faltered once again. The team lost their fourth wicket at 209 runs, the fifth at 212, and the sixth at 218. For India, Manav Suthar has claimed two wickets so far. Additionally, Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj, Saransh Jain, and Ravindra Jadeja claimed one wicket each. It will be interesting to see what target Sri Lanka sets for India on the final day (IND vs SL).
