The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has confirmed the dates for the three-match T20 International series against India in New Delhi. In a statement issued, the ACB announced that the matches will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on September 13, 15, and 17. The board also clarified that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has also agreed to these dates.
India’s tour of Afghanistan will begin on September 13
According to a letter available with Cricbuzz, Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) CEO Naseeb Khan has written to his business associates that India’s tour of Afghanistan 2026 will be held between September 13 and September 17. He confirmed that these dates have been agreed to by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the venues for these matches have also been finalized. It should be noted that India and Afghanistan previously played a one-off Test match in Mullanpur in June, followed by a three-match ODI series.
This decision by the Afghanistan Cricket Board now makes it seem impossible for Team India to tour Bangladesh. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) originally intended to host six matches between September 1st and 13th, but a match from the Afghanistan series falls during that time. With only three weeks remaining for the matches, the tour should be considered canceled unless a significant decision is made by the government.
Afghanistan board wrote a letter to BCCI
The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) further stated that while the series is yet to be officially announced by officials, the board is sending this letter to provide firm information on the dates and stadiums for the “India tour of Afghanistan 2026.” With this, companies holding the telecast and media rights to the matches can now begin planning their further preparations, broadcasting arrangements, promotions, and other aspects with this schedule in mind.
