India’s Sri Lanka tour warm-up game reduced to three days
Team India will tour Sri Lanka in August for a two-match Test series. Before the Test series begins, the two teams will play a warm-up match. The schedule for this lone warm-up match, originally scheduled for four days, has now been reduced to three. The practice match will begin at the NCC Ground in Colombo on August 7th and run until August 9th. The BCCI selection committee has announced Team India’s squad for this Test series.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and team management have been informed of this change. However, no concrete reason has been provided for the shortened match time. The Indian team will depart for Colombo on August 4th. After the three-day practice match, the team will head to Galle, where the first Test will be played on August 15th. The second Test will be played at the SSC Stadium in Colombo on August 23rd. Fortunately for fans, this warm-up match will be broadcast live.
Jasprit Bumrah has passed the fitness test
Ahead of the Test series, the Indian team has received some good news regarding the fitness of its players. Sai Sudharsan, who has been struggling with injury issues, is recovering rapidly. Sudharsan’s selection in the team depended on his fitness due to a toe injury, but he has now completed his rehab in Bengaluru and has resumed batting practice. Meanwhile, Jaspreet Gumrah has now fully recovered from his knee injury and passed the fitness test at the CoE. He is now fully fit to play in the Test series.
Pollard, Pooran, Russell headlines in Canada Super 60 draft
Canada Super 60 has successfully concluded its Season 2 Player Draft, assembling six star-studded franchise squads featuring some of the biggest names in international cricket ahead of the league’s return to BC Place, Vancouver, from September 29 to October 4, 2026, according to a press release. Season 2 will feature six city-based franchises namely Vancouver Anchors, Whiterock Warriors, Brampton Blitz, Toronto Sixers, Mississauga Masters, and Montreal Royal Tigers.
The draft added further international firepower through Moeen Ali, Imad Wasim, Tom Curran, David Willey, Tymal Mills, Azam Khan and Andries Gous. Canadian talent also featured prominently, with Saad Bin Zafar, Kaleem Sana, Nicholas Kirton, Yuvraj Samra, Ali Nadeem, Dilraj Deol and Finley Dixon amongst others.
Central Zone squad announced for Duleep Trophy
The Central Zone squad for the 2026 Duleep Trophy has been announced. Rajat Patidar will once again captain the defending champions. Meanwhile, young and explosive Team India batsman Rinku Singh has been appointed vice-captain, giving him significant responsibility. Central Zone will be aiming to win the title again this season. Last season, the team performed brilliantly and won the trophy by defeating South Zone in the final.
The Central Zone team includes two more Indian internationals, including left-arm spin-bowling all-rounder Harsh Dubey and fast bowler Yash Thakur. Patidar’s Madhya Pradesh teammate Saransh Jain will lead the spin bowling attack. Saransh Jain is part of Team India’s squad for the Sri Lanka series . He will be joined by Harsh Dubey and Uttar Pradesh leg-spinner Zeeshan Ansari, who recently returned to the red-ball format after five years on the India A tour of Sri Lanka.

Rishabh Pant visits MS Dhoni ahead of Sri Lanka series
The Indian cricket team will soon be touring Sri Lanka. The two-Test series begins on August 15th. Wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant, who has been out of the ODI and T20 squads, will also be making his comeback in this series. Pant has been seen practicing with MS Dhoni ahead of the Sri Lanka Test series.
Former Indian cricketer Shahbaz Nadeem shared a new photo on Instagram with MS Dhoni and Rishabh Pant. The photo is from a gym in Ranchi. Dhoni was seen in a blue tracksuit, while Pant was wearing a new black T-shirt and shorts. Sharing the photo, Nadeem wrote in the new caption, “The 2 best finishers of Indian cricket.”
