The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made a major announcement amid the ongoing T20 series against England as Team India’s squad for Zimbabwe has been announced, where, Sanju Samson’s name is missing. Sanju Samson has been dropped from the squad. Sanju is currently touring England with the Indian team, where he was dropped from the second match. Samson had flopped in three consecutive matches and was subsequently dropped from the playing XI. Rinku Singh has returned to the team in his place.
Sanju eliminated from the squad
Samson’s career has been entangled in a cycle of in-and-out appearances. His poor form was questionable at the start of the 2026 T20 World Cup, but when he was called up for the knockouts, he unleashed a fierce batting performance. Samson even won the Player of the Tournament award. But now, it’s becoming difficult for him to maintain his place in Team India.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Prabhsimran Singh, who performed brilliantly in the IPL, has been included in the team. The right-handed opener scored 510 runs in 14 matches and had an economy rate of around 170. Fast bowler Ashok Sharma, who debuted in IPL 2026, has also made his debut in Team India and impressed everyone with his speed. Ashok Sharma bowled at a speed of 154.2 km/h. All-rounder Harsh Dubey has also been included in the squad. Mayank Yadav, who made his debut in 2024, has taken 4 wickets in 3 matches.
