It was yet another excellent day in the office for the Faf du Plessis-led Texas Super Kings (TSK) as they thrashed defending champions MI New York (MINY) by six wickets to go top of the Major League Cricket (MLC) table. Donovan Ferreira took MINY by surprise as his career-best bowling figures of 3/14 helped restrict the opposition to 127/9 and then played a calm hand (18* off 13) to take his side home.
Double strike
MINY were 50/3 in the powerplay, but then Ferreira struck his very fist over after that to get rid of the dangerous Quinton de Kock (20) and Kieron Pollard (0) off back-to-back deliveries. Ferreira’s off-spin also proved to be fatal for Nicholas Pooran as he could manage just 3 off 11.
At 63/6 in the 11th over, TSK would have hoped to restrict New York to under 100, but Corbin Bosch (24), Sunny Patel (26*), and Trent Boult (18) ensured that they got over 120 on the board. Other than Ferreira, Adam Milne picked up two while the rest of the bowlers picked up a wicket apiece.
TSK do it easily
TASK knew all they had to do was play out the 20 overs, and they would get the job done. That is xactly exactly how they approached the chase, with Saiteja Mukkamalla (38) playing a composed innings.
With 32 needed of the last five overs, with seven wickets in hand, Wiaan Mulder (19*) and Ferreira ensured that they did not face any further hiccups on their way to a comfortable victory.
TSK next take on Washington Freedom, while MINY will look to get back to winning ways against Los Angeles Knight Riders (LAKR), with both matches set to be played tomorrow.
