GT defeat RR to reach IPL final

Gujarat Titans (GT) defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 7 wickets in the second qualifier and made it to the IPL 2026 final. Captain Shubman Gill played a crucial role in Gujarat’s one-sided victory with his century. Batting first, Rajasthan scored 214/6. Chasing, GT lost just three wickets and wrapped up the chase in just 18.4 overs. Gill played the biggest innings for the team, scoring 104 runs in 53 balls with the help of 15 fours and 3 sixes.

Opening with Gill, Sai Sudarshan also played a brilliant innings and scored a fifty. The two shared 167 runs for the first wicket (from 77 balls), almost ensuring victory for the team. Sudarshan scored 58 runs in 32 balls, hitting 8 fours and 1 six. He was dismissed hit wicket in this match, just like in the previous match. GT will play the final match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Sunday, May 31st.

Shubman Gill scores fastest IPL century for Gujarat Titans

Shubman Gill scored the fastest IPL century for the Gujarat Titans. He achieved this feat in the Qualifier 2 match against Rajasthan Royals. Gill reached his century in 47 balls. Gill hit 15 fours and three sixes in this historic innings. This is Shubman Gill’s fifth IPL century overall.

Only Gill and Sai Sudarshan have scored centuries for Gujarat Titans. Previously, Gill held the record for the fastest century for Gujarat. He reached the century in 49 balls against Mumbai Indians in 2023. Now, he has bettered his own record, reaching the century in 47 balls.

BCCI announces ban on smart glasses in IPL

The BCCI’s Anti-Corruption Unit (ACSU) has banned the use of smart sunglasses by players and match officials in the ongoing IPL, effective immediately. The board stated in its advisory that these glasses have features such as live streaming and video calling. They operate via mobile data or Wi-Fi. The BCCI also noted that some companies are deliberately selling these smart glasses to players and support staff.

According to the board, these devices are not just eyeglasses but powerful communication tools. They offer live streaming, sending and receiving text messages, audio and video calling. Due to their technological advancement, these devices could pose a threat to the safety and integrity of the sport.
