IPL 2026 Bulletin: Major Talking Points | May 27, 2026

Rajasthan beat SRH by 47 runs

Rajasthan Royals defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 47 runs in the IPL 2026 Eliminator. Hyderabad simply couldn’t withstand Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s explosive batting. With this victory, Rajasthan secured a place in Qualifier 2, where they will face Gujarat Titans on May 29th. Sunrisers Hyderabad are now out of IPL 2026.

In this match played at the Mullanpur ground, Rajasthan, batting first, scored 243 runs. This was the second-highest total in playoff history. In response, SRH managed only 196 runs in their allotted 20 overs. By winning the Eliminator, Rajasthan Royals have secured a place in Qualifier 2. In the second Qualifier, they will face the Gujarat Titans, who lost to the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the first Qualifier.

MS Dhoni’s CSK future depends on him alone: Kasi Viswanathan

Mahendra Singh Dhoni has led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to five IPL titles under his captaincy. 44-year-old Dhoni will not play a single match for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2026. Dhoni will be over 45 years old by the next IPL season. Therefore, it seems unlikely that Dhoni will play in IPL 2027, and he may announce his retirement from the IPL. Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) CEO Kasi Viswanathan has made a significant statement regarding Dhoni’s future.

“We have not discussed anything with MS as of now. MS takes his decisions on his own, and we respect that,” Kasi said. “We would always like to have him as a permanent fixture at CSK in whatever capacity — be it as a player, coach or mentor, whatever he would like. Any decision depends on him.”

BCCI planning to shift IPL to these months

The Indian Premier League (IPL), known as India’s cricket festival, has long been played between March and May, but now this schedule could change. Indian Premier League Chairman Arun Dhumal hinted at the changes. He also announced that the tournament could be extended, with 94 matches instead of 74.

Speaking to Sports Star, Arun Dhumal said about the change in the IPL months, “We will have to sit face to face with the broadcasters and get their opinion on whether the tournament can be held at some other time. One suggestion was September-October. This is the best time from the advertisers’ point of view as it is just before Diwali.”
