Butter fingers! PBKS drop THREE sitters to hand SRH the edge in crucial IPL 2026 match

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) innings could have been far worse had the Punjab Kings (PBKS) held on to all the catches that came their way. All of them were not difficult by any stretch of imagination. In fact, they were as straightforward as they come.

How did it all unfold?

The first culprit for PBKS was Cooper Conolly, who gave Ishan Kishan a massive respite. Kishan had not got going then and was looking for a big shot to relieve some pressure. As a result, he hit a short ball from Lockie Ferguson towards deep square-leg, where Connolly was stationed. It looked as though he would grab on to it, but the ball just slipped out of his hands. Kishan, who was batting on nine off nine at that point, went on to score 55 off 32 deliveries. He put on 30 (19) with Travis Head and then added 88 (48) with Heinrich Klaasen to give SRH the advantage.

Klaasen was the next to get a reprieve and this time it was Shashank Singh, who dropped him at deep backward square-leg. Klaasen top-edged a sweep off Yuzvendra Chahal and the ball went straight to Shashank, who is usually an excellent fielder. However, on this occasion, he could not hang on to it. To make matters worse, the ball went into the fence for a four. Klaasen was batting on nine off six at that juncture and he made the opposition pay by scoring another fifty in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026.

Chahal’s evening got worse when another catch was dropped off his bowling. It was Kishan once again who was given a let-off. Kishan went for a pull, but A top-edged it straight to Ferguson on the fence, who let the ball slip. Kishan was batting on 18 at that point and PBKS would have loved to see his back right then. However, Chahal did not have the luck he wanted and another catch was spilled off his bowling.

Chahal’s bad luck continues

Four balls later, Prabhsimran Singh missed a stumping off Chahal as well. It was Kishan again! Safe to say, the southpaw made the most of it.

Chahal did pick up the wicket of Travis Head earlier and finished with figures of 1/32. This is a crucial game for both sides as they are coming into this game on the back of losses.

SRH finished with 235/4 from their 20 overs, with Klaasen scoring 69 off 43.

PBKS are at the top of the IPL 2026 points table with 13 points, while SRH are third with 12. A win for SRH tonight will take them to the top of the table.
