In his eight innings before today (May 4), Nicholas Pooran had crossed 20 just once. His last five scores read: 9, 22, 9, 1 and 19. He had not scored a fifty in his last nine innings, but against Mumbai Indians (MI), he smashed as many as eight sixes on his way to a 21-ball 63.
That was breathtaking 😅

Pooran got to his fifty off just 16 deliveries, and nearly broke his own record of slamming the fastest half-century for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
Fastest fifties for LSG in IPL (by balls)

16 Nicholas Pooran vs MI, Wankhede, 2026

19 Nicholas Pooran vs MI, Wankhede, 2024
20 Kyle Mayers vs PBKS, Mohali, 2023

Pooran’s eight sixes are the most for an LSG player in the IPL after Quinton de Kock, who hit 10 maximums against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Navi Mumbai in 2022. The southpaw put on 94 off just 34 deliveries for the second wicket off just 34 deliveries, which set the platform for LSG to get a big total on the board.
Pooran has 2,438 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL) at an impressive strike rate of nearly 165, including 15 fifties. LSG have lost five matches in a row and lie at the bottom of the table with just four points in eight matches.
