PBKS beat LSG by 54 runs

In the 29th match of IPL 2026 on Sunday, Punjab Kings (PBKS) delivered a magnificent performance to defeat Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 54 runs. Chasing a target of 255 runs set by PBKS, the LSG team could only manage to score 200 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. This marks Punjab Kings’ fifth victory of the season.

Lucknow Super Giants got off to a brilliant start in their pursuit of the massive target of 255 runs. Ayush Badoni and Mitchell Marsh combined to add 61 runs for the first wicket in just 5.6 overs. Marsh was dismissed after scoring 40 runs off 28 balls, an innings studded with 3 fours and 2 sixes. Meanwhile, Badoni contributed 35 runs off 21 balls; his innings featured 5 fours and one six. Captain Rishabh Pant appeared to be in fine form, playing a powerful innings of 43 runs off merely 23 deliveries. Pant’s innings included one four and 4 sixes.

Kolkata beat RR by 4 wickets

Powered by Rinku Singh’s unbeaten half-century at Eden Gardens, the Kolkata Knight Riders defeated the Rajasthan Royals by 4 wickets on their home ground. This marks Kolkata’s first victory of the season—a win they had to wait six matches to achieve. Chasing a target of 156 set by Rajasthan, Kolkata got off to a poor start. The team lost the wickets of Tim Seifert and Ajinkya Rahane with the score at just 5. However, Cameron Green and Angkrish Raghuvanshi then attempted to stabilize the innings. Yet, Rajasthan’s bowlers—specifically Jadeja and Ashwin—sent both batsmen back to the pavilion.

By the time the score reached 70, half of the Kolkata team had already returned to the dugout. However, in the end, Rinku Singh held firm at one end. Forging a 76-run partnership for the seventh wicket with Anukul Roy, he steered the team to victory. Rinku Singh played an unbeaten knock of 53 runs off 34 balls, featuring 5 fours and 2 sixes, while Anukul Roy contributed an unbeaten 29 runs off 16 balls.

Ayush Mhatre likely to be out for three weeks

Chennai Super Kings have suffered another major blow following their 10-run defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Young Chennai batsman Ayush Mhatre has torn his left hamstring. IPL 2026 has been a rollercoaster ride for the team, and they were relying on the 18-year-old for a solid start.

Mhatre, who replaced Gurjapneet Singh as an impact sub, came on after Sanju Samson was dismissed in the second over of CSK’s chase against Hyderabad on Saturday night. He was in excellent form, scoring a quick 30 off 12 balls, when he stopped after running two runs and grabbed his hamstring.

Chennai batting coach Mike Hussey gave an update on Mhatre’s injury. He said, “He has a torn hamstring. I don’t know how serious it is. I’m sure we’ll probably have a scan tomorrow or the day after. Unfortunately, it looks pretty bad, and not having him will be a huge loss for us, as he has been in very good form for us.”
