IPL 2026 Bulletin: Major Talking Points | April 13, 2026

Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Rajasthan Royals by 57 runs

Sunrisers Hyderabad took the spotlight in the 21st match of IPL 2026, beating Rajasthan Royals by 57 runs. That win snapped RR’s winning streak. The real story, though, was all about Shakib Hussain and Praful Hinge. Both of them were making their IPL debuts for SRH, and each picked up four wickets, totally dismantling Rajasthan’s batting.

Sunrisers Hyderabad scored 216/6 batting first. While chasing, Rajasthan Royals were all-out for 159. With this big win, Sunrisers Hyderabad shot up the points table. They’re now fourth with 4 points and a net run rate of +0.576. Rajasthan Royals, even after their first loss of the season, still hold the top spot with 8 points and a net run rate of +0.889.

Change in IPL 2026 schedule as BCCI swaps CSK vs GT fixtures

The intensity surrounding IPL 2026 is at its zenith, but the BCCI has surprised fans with a significant announcement. The venues for the upcoming matches between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have been revised. The board made this decision in light of the municipal elections scheduled for April 26 in Gujarat. Hosting the matches in Ahmedabad was not possible due to security and administrative constraints during the elections, leading the BCCI to opt for a venue swap.

According to the revised schedule, the match that was originally scheduled to be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on April 26 will now be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium (Chepauk) in Chennai. The match will start at 3:30 PM. In turn, the ‘reverse match’ scheduled for Chennai on May 21 will now be held in Ahmedabad. The match on May 21 will start at 7:30 PM. The IPL management has issued a media advisory clarifying that this change has been made for administrative reasons only.

Chennai crowd has been phenomenal, says Jamie Overton

Chennai Super Kings finally snapped their six-game losing streak at home last week, beating Delhi Capitals by 23 runs. Jamie Overton led the way with four wickets, helping limit Delhi to 189 while they chased 213 for a win. Overton really made an impact by sticking to hard lengths. Every one of his four wickets came from those length or back-of-length balls. That approach paid off all game, and the batters just couldn’t handle it.

Before their next game against Kolkata Knight Riders, Overton spoke to the media and couldn’t stop gushing about the passionate Chennai fans. Overton said, “Chennai is a fabulous place to come and play. The support we get is phenomenal, and it was nice to finally get a win this season. Hopefully we go on a run from here.”
