ICC nominees for Player of the Month Award (Men and Women) announced

On Monday, the International Cricket Council announced the nominees for the ICC Player of the Month Award for March (men and women). India’s stars from the T20 World Cup campaign Jasprit Bumrah and Sanju Samson alongside South Africa’s Connor Esterhuizen are in the race for the honour. While Bumrah and Samson impressed in the T20 World Cup 2026, Esterhuizen grabbed attention with a standout debut T20I series against New Zealand.

From women’s cricket, Amelia Kerr, the New Zealand captain was named as a nominee after her brilliant all-round performance during the home series against Zimbabwe and South Africa. Beth Mooney and Ayabonga Khoka are the other prolific names in the race for the Player of the Month Award for March by ICC.

PSL will become world’s number one league: Mohsin Naqvi

Mohsin Naqvi, the Pakistan Cricket Board Chief called PSL “the best market for investment”. He predicted that the Pakistan Super League would soon surpass the Indian Premier League as the world’s leading cricket league.  Speaking at a Board of Governors meeting in Lahore, Naqvi said, “The PSL has now become the best market for investment. The time is not far when the PSL will become the world’s number one league,” as quoted by Gulf News.

Despite a successful auction that also saw PSL expanding from six to eight teams, the league faces difficulties. It is being played behind closed at lonely Lahore and Karachi due to the fuel crisis the country. The PSL also faces difficulties attracting top international players. While many cricketers overlooked in the Indian Premier League join the PSL, there have been times when players left the PSL to join the IPL.

Bangladesh to formally inform ICC about the probe report

Aminul Haque, the Youth and Sports State Minister of Bangladesh, told that they would take the next step after formally informing the International Cricket Council about the report submitted by the five-member probe committee. On Sunday, Aminul convened an inter-ministerial meeting and then said, “Look, the investigation committee has already submitted its report this morning and immediately and I convened an inter-ministerial meeting, where we held discussions on the matter.”

However, he did not specify if the report would go public, but mentioned, “Once we formally inform the ICC about the investigation report, we will take our next decision.” On the other hand, former state adviser for sports Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain, cleared his stance saying, “I sought clarification on whether the committee (probe committee) had the authority to investigate a matter under judicial consideration and involving an autonomous institution. I received no satisfactory response. I will not knowingly be part of any irregular or contemptuous process.”
