Kolkata-Punjab match cancelled due to rain
On Monday evening, the 12th match of IPL 2026 between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) was washed out due to rain. At the toss, KKR’s Ajinkya Rahane surprised a lot of people by choosing to bat first, even though the sky was looking pretty grim. Batting turned out to be tricky and KKR lost Finn Allen and Cameron Green with just 16 runs on the board. They were barely into the fourth over, sitting at 25, when the rain really came down.
It did ease off by around 10:30 p.m., but the outfield just wasn’t ready. Even though the ground crew had covered everything, water pooled up on top of the covers and made things a mess. The staff worked hard, hoping to get the game back on. But in the end, the umpires called it. Both teams walk away with a point each.
SRH likely to approach BCCI over Avesh Khan incident
In the first game of Sunday’s doubleheader, Avesh Khan from Lucknow Super Giants pulled off a move that really annoyed the Sunrisers Hyderabad players. Now, Sunrisers want to take the issue up with the BCCI. Under Ishan Kishan’s captaincy, SRH lost the match by five wickets, but the real drama wasn’t about the result. It was all about the way the match ended, with a boundary from Pant.
It happened that Rishabh Pant hit the winning shot on the fifth ball of the final over. Avesh Khan, who was standing just outside the boundary, put the ball back into play before it touched the rope. The Sunrisers argue that this wasn’t right. According to them, Avesh deserves a fine.
According to Cricbuzz, it is claimed that the ball never touched the boundary cushion and that Avesh actually used his bat to hit it back and so the four shouldn’t count. People on social media has jumped in too. Many are saying Sunrisers should have got five penalty runs, and that cricket rules 20.1 (dead ball) and 41 (unfair play) apply here. They’re calling Avesh’s actions unprofessional. Still, the match officials don’t see this as intentional obstruction. There weren’t any fielders involved, so it’s a gray area. But that’s not stopping the debate from heating up.
CSK’s biggest problem is Noor Ahmed, says Irfan Pathan

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) suffered their third consecutive defeat of the season against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Sunday in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. Chennai’s bowlers disappointed in this match as RCB scored 250 runs in 20 overs, losing only three wickets. In reply, CSK were all out for 207 runs in 19.4 overs and lost the match by 43 runs. Following CSK’s poor bowling, former Indian player Irfan Pathan has cited the form of left-arm chinaman Noor Ahmed as the team’s biggest problem.
After CSK lost this clash, Pathan said, “He (Noor) is CSK’s biggest problem right now. He has bowled around 10 overs this season and conceded over 100 runs. He does not have a single wicket. I believe that if he corrects the angle of his run-up, the alignment will improve, and his hand, which has been falling to one side, will become straighter as well.”
