Delhi Capitals (DC) outclassed Mumbai Indians (MI) by six wickets in their first home game of IPL 2026 on Saturday. In that clash, former Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma played a crucial 35-run innings. While smashing the only six of his innings, he broke a major IPL record. He has now become the Indian batsman with the most sixes against a single team (51 sixes). He surpassed Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s record of 50 sixes against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
Rohit hit five fours and a six in his 26-ball innings. This six came off Vipraj Nigam bowling in the seventh over of the innings. Chris Gayle holds the world record for most sixes against a single team in the IPL, with 61 against Punjab Kings (PBKS) and 54 against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

Rohit’s record against DC
Rohit has scored 1,092 runs in 38 matches against DC in the IPL at an average of 31.20, including six half-centuries. The record for most runs against DC in the league is held by RCB batter Virat Kohli (1,130).
Rohit made his IPL debut in 2008 against KKR. He has played 274 matches so far, scoring 7,159 runs in 269 innings at an average of 29.95 and a strike rate of 132.62. He has scored two centuries and 48 half-centuries. His best score is 109 not out. He is the second-highest run-scorer in IPL history. He completed 7,000 runs in IPL history last season.
