Jitesh Sharma reveals RCB want IPL dominance and legacy

The 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) kicked off on Saturday, March 28, in Bengaluru. In that clash, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) faced off against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Royal Challengers secured the win, beating Sunrisers by six wickets. Now, RCB’s wicketkeeper-batter has stressed the fact that last season’s trophy has only heightened the team’s persistent desire to build a unique legacy for the franchise.

Speaking on the RCB podcast, Jitesh Sharma said, “This is not a one-year thing. We are here to dominate. I want to prove that what happened last season was not a one-off.”

A magical feeling

Jitesh also said being part of the campaign’s success feels incredibly rewarding. He shared that contributing to something that actually works gives him a real sense of fulfillment. “Winning the first trophy for RCB was a magical feeling. The biggest satisfaction was knowing that I had contributed to it. That is a moment I will always be proud of.”

Jitesh talked about coming back to the RCB camp after a tough spell and how the atmosphere there really helped him clear his mind. He said being around the team made it easier to hit the reset button and move forward. He said, “When I walked back into Chinnaswamy and saw the red and blue again, I felt reborn. Being back in that environment made me feel like myself again.”

Jitesh gave credit to Dinesh Karthik for helping shape his growth over the past year. “A lot of the credit for my growth goes to DK ‘anna’. He helped me understand my game better, use my strengths properly and improve mentally. DK asked me to take a break, put the bat away for a while and spend time with my family and friends. That helped me reset.”
