Richa and Deepti find teams in first Women’s Hundred auction
New Zealand’s Sophie Devine and Australia’s wicketkeeper-batter Beth Mooney got the highest bids in the inaugural Women’s Hundred auction. Mooney was purchased by Trent Rockets for GBP 210,000 whereas Devine, bought by Welsh Fire for the same amount. Dani Gibson followed them after being bought for GBP 190,000 by Sunrisers Leeds and South African allrounder Nadine de Klerk became the fourth most buy after being bought for GBP 170,000 by London Spirit.
No Pakistan player was picked. On the other hand, Richa Ghosh and Deepti Sharma were bought for their base price by Manchester Super Giants and Sunrisers Leeds respectively.
Gujarat Titans appoint new assistant coach
Gujarat Titans have appointed former India wicketkeeper-batter Vijay Dahiya as an assistant coach ahead of the Indian Premier League 2026. Dahiya played two Tests and 19 ODIs for Indian team and used to be part of the coaching staff of Delhi team that won the Ranji Trophy in the 2017-18. In the IPL, he served Kolkata Knight Riders as an assistant coach. Later in 2019 became the head talent scout of the Delhi Capitals and moved to Lucknow Super Giants as their assistant coach.
Since joining the IPL in 2022, Gujarat Titans have been one of the more consistent sides in the tournament. The won the title in their debut season and reached the playoffs in three of their first four campaigns.
WBPL set to be postponed
As per a report in Cricbuzz, The Women’s Bangladesh Premier League is set to be shifted to July. The initial plan was to organize the inaugural edition between April 3-15. A BCB official informed the Cricbuzz, “We are planning to host the tournament in July rather than from April.”
The BCB earlier planned to have the inaugural edition with three teams, bringing together leading national cricketers alongside emerging talents. Local players will be selected through a player draft system, and franchises will also sign overseas players.
