IPL 2026: Royal Challengers Bengaluru to play 5 home games at Chinnaswamy stadium

IPL 2026: For Indian cricket fans, the IPL isn’t just another tournament, it’s pure emotion. Last season, Royal Challengers Bangalore finally grabbed their first title after 18 long years. That win meant everything to RCB fans. Unfortunately, the victory celebrations turned tragic when a stampede broke out and several people lost their lives. Since then, the stadium has stayed silent; not a single match has happened there.

But now, just a few days to go before IPL 2026 kicks off, there’s good news for RCB supporters. The opening ceremony is coming back to Chinnaswamy Stadium. Media reports says, the IPL 2026 opener will take place at this iconic ground. Since RCB are the defending champions, they get to play the first match at home in Bengaluru, just like the rules say. There’s more, reports say this year’s semi-finals and final are also set for Chinnaswamy.

RCB will play five of their home games at Chinnaswamy Stadium this season. Two more home matches will be played at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur. So, RCB fans in both cities have plenty to look forward to. Chinnaswamy is famous for its electric atmosphere and big scores, and finally it’s ready to come alive again. The pressure’s on RCB to defend their title this year.

RCB hasn’t forgotten who helped make this happen. The franchise thanked the Karnataka government, the state cricket association, and the police for their support and hard work. Their efforts to upgrade the stadium and tighten security made sure RCB can play most of their games at home. Now, it’s almost time for the lights, the crowds, and the cricket to return.
