ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026

England became the first team to qualify for the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2026 after a thrilling two-wicket victory over Pakistan. After winning the toss and electing to bat, Pakistan posted a competitive 164/9. Sahibzada Farhan was the standout, scoring a composed 63 off 45 balls. Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman both chipped in with 25 runs each, while a late cameo from Shadab Khan helped push the total past 160.

The chase started in disaster for England. Shaheen Shah Afridi ran through the top order, leaving them reeling at 35/3. Thanks to Harry Brook’s career-defining knock, a 100 off 51 balls, England managed to come back and completed the chase with five balls to spare. Brook became the first captain in history to score a century in a T20 World Cup.

Pakistan now need to beat Sri Lanka in their final match and hope for other results to go their way to be in race for the semi-final.

Ranji Trophy Final, Day 1

Jammu & Kashmir dominated Day 1 of the Ranji Trophy final against Karnataka. The underdogs ended the day with 284/2, thanks to a masterclass from Shubham Pundir (117* off 221). awer Hassan played a vital role, scoring 88 and stitching together a 139-run stand with Pundir for the second wicket.

New coach appointed for Afghanistan cricket team

Richard Pybus has been appointed the new head coach of Afghanistan Cricket Board. He has replaced Jonathan Trott, who departed from the role after spending three years with the team at the end of their T20 World Cup campaign.

Richard Pybus was Pakistan’s head coach from 1999 to 2003, that included their run to the final of the 1999 ODI World Cup. He was also the head coach of Bangladesh in 2013 and was with the West Indies team for six years, from 2013 to 2019 as their director of cricket. Pybus will coaching Afghanistan across formats and will join the team ahead of the white-ball series against Sri Lanka in the UAE next month.
