Dominant West Indies hammer Zimbabwe by 107 runs in Super 8’s

West Indies took on Zimbabwe in the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup 2026 at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium and the Caribbean calypso absolutely dominated, winning by 107 runs. Hetmyer and Powell both smashed half-centuries, and Moti grabbed four wickets to seal the deal.

Zimbabwe won the toss and decided to bowl first. But West Indies made them pay, racking up 254 runs for 6 wickets in their 20 overs. Zimbabwe never really got close. They managed just 147 runs in 17.4 overs, and that was pretty much it for Sikandar Raza’s side. The 254 that West Indies put up wasn’t just a winning score, it was the second-highest total ever in T20 World Cup history, and the highest score West Indies have ever made in the tournament.

Brandon King started things off for the West Indies but only managed 9 runs before getting out. Shai Hope didn’t last much longer, adding 14. Then Hetmyer came in swinging—he smashed his half-century in just 19 balls and ended up with a quick-fire 85. Powell kept the momentum, reaching fifty off 29 balls and finishing with 59. Shepherd chipped in with a lively 21 from just 10 balls. Rutherford stayed unbeaten on 31 from 13, and Holder added a rapid 13 off 4 at the end. On the bowling side for Zimbabwe, both Richard Ngarava and Blessing Muzarabani picked up two wickets each.

When Zimbabwe came out to bat, Marumani made 14 before heading back, and Bennett only scraped together 5. Myers was the top scorer with 28, while Burl stayed not out. Captain Sikandar Raza put up 27, and Munyonga managed 14. Graeme Cremer and Musekiwa didn’t trouble the scorers. For the West Indies bowlers, Gudakesh Motie led with four wickets, and Akeal Hosein grabbed three.
