T20 World Cup 2026: South Africa maintained their dominance in the Group D match of the T20 World Cup 2026, defeating the UAE by 6 wickets. Played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, the Proteas bowlers and batsmen delivered a one-sided performance. The UAE team appeared completely helpless in this match, performing dismally in every aspect compared to South Africa.

South Africa captain Aiden Markram’s decision to bowl first after winning the toss proved to be the right one. The UAE got off to a steady start, at one point reaching 36/0 in 4 overs, but the South African bowlers then began to tighten the screws. Bosch bowled a brilliant spell, taking 3 wickets for just 12 runs in 4 overs, breaking the back of the UAE.
For the UAE, Alishan Sharafu top-scored with 45 runs off 38 balls, but he lacked support from the other end. Anrich Nortje (2/28) dismissed Sharafu to end his innings. The entire UAE team could only manage 122 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs, giving South Africa an easy target.

Chasing the modest target of 123, South Africa adopted an aggressive approach. Although rain interrupted the play, it did not disrupt the Proteas batsmen’s rhythm. Captain Aiden Markram played a blistering innings of 28 runs off just 11 balls, including 5 fours and 1 six. Ryan Rickelton (30 runs) and Dewald Brevis (35*), known as Baby AB, carried the innings forward. Finally, with the help of Tristan Stubbs, South Africa achieved the target in the 14th over, winning the match by 6 wickets.
