ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026

In the biggest upset of the T20 World Cup 2026 so far, Zimbabwe defeated the formidable Australia for only the second time in T20 World Cup history since the inaugural season in 2027. They won by 23 runs to hand Australia one of their rarest collapses in the marquee tournament. Australia lost four wickets for just 29 runs in their Powerplay- only the second time they have collapsed such severely in the history of T20 World Cup.

The USA beat Netherlands by a massive 93 runs- the largest victory by runs by an Associate nation in the history of the T20 World Cup. Moreover, it was their first-ever win over Netherlands as they had lost all six international encounters earlier.

In a nail-biter against Canada in Delhi, the UAE won by five wickets, thanks to a historic spell by Junaid Siddique. He became the first UAE player ever to take a 5-wicket haul in a T20 World Cup, finishing with figures of 5/35. Currently, he is only the second bowler from an Associate nation to take 5 wickets in a T20 World Cup match in the last 12 years, after Ahsan Malik’s 5/19 in 2014.

Sikandar Raza joins Worcestershire for T20 Blast 2026

Worcestershire signed the Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza as a replacement for Ben Dwarshuis. Raza is not a like-for-like replacement for Dwarshuis who took 18 wickets for Worcestershire last season and added a few runs too. But Worcestershire trusted the mystery spinner with ability to bat in the middle-order for the T20 Blast.

New Zealand coach’s take on NZ20 league

New Zealand are set to launch their own privately-owned T20 league in January 2027. While it could clash with Australia’s BBL and South Africa’s SA 20, New Zealand coach Rob Walter believes it could work in their favour.

“The benefit lies in if you’re able to get quality overseas professionals [in the playing XI], you essentially make your team better by four people. So you replace the four weakest cricketers with four internationally strong cricketers,” Walter said ahead of New Zealand’s T20 World Cup match against South Africa in Ahmedabad on Saturday.
