T20 World Cup 2026: UAE finally scalped its first win in the T20 World Cup 2026. Chasing 151 against Canada at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, they needed 56 runs from the last four overs. Things looked tough after 16 overs, as they only managed 95 runs and the run rate was crawling along under six. But then it got wild. UAE pulled off the win on the fourth ball of the final over.

Aryansh Sharma and Sohaib Khan were the big reason why they slalomed past Canada. They smashed an 84-run partnership in just 42 balls, dragging the team back into the game. Scores were level when Sohaib tried to finish things in style with a six, but he was caught. He walked off with 51 runs from 29 balls, including four boundaries and four sixes.
Aryansh, opening the batting, anchored the chase with a gutsy 74 off 53 balls, sending six fours and three sixes to the fence. UAE wrapped it up by five wickets. Earlier, Canada batted first and posted 150 for 7 in their 20 overs. This is UAE’s first win in two matches they have played in the current edition of the T20 World Cup. Canada, though, is still searching for a win after dropping both games so far.
Canada’s innings started rough. Their captain Dilpreet Bajwa got out for 11 and Yuvraj Samra followed for just 5. Nicholas Kirton didn’t last until the end of the powerplay either. At the six-over mark, Canada was 39 for three.

Then Harsh Thakar and Navneet Dhaliwal stepped up, steadying things with a 58-run stand. Navneet was unlucky as he got run out for 34 after his bat got stuck in the turf. Harsh made it to his fifty but got out right after, exactly on 50.
Shreyas Movva chipped in with 21 off 21. In the last over, Junaid Siddiqui picked up two wickets to finish with a five-wicket haul, but Dillon Heyliger had the last word for Canada, smashing a six off the final ball to push their total to 150. Junaid ended up with figures of 5 for 35.
