T20 World Cup 2026: West Indies outclass England in Wankhede, won by 30 runs

T20 World Cup 2026: On Wednesday, West Indies took down England by 30 runs in the 15th match of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. They batted first and with some wonderful display put up 196 for 6 on the board. The English side tried to chase the target, but fell short and were all out for 166 in just 19 overs.

Sherfane Rutherford stole the show for West Indies in this mammoth clash. He stayed unbeaten, hammered 76 off 42 balls, smashing two fours and seven sixes. Jason Holder also scored an explosive 33 runs off 17 balls. West Indies spinners troubled the England batsmen a lot. With the ball, Gudakesh Moti grabbed three wickets, while Roston Chase scalped two.

After this superb success, it is two wins in a row now for West Indies. They sit on top of the table with four points and a healthy net run rate of +1.625. Scotland’s right behind them in Group C and also unbeaten after two games, but with a net run rate of +0.950. England, with two points, are third.

England actually started their chase pretty well. Philip Salt and Jos Buttler gave them a solid platform. But things unraveled when Salt fell for 30 off 14 balls, after cracking four boundaries and two sixes. Buttler and Jacob Bethell pushed the score to 74, but Buttler went for 21. Bethell chipped in with 33, and Sam Curran tried to keep the fight alive with a quick 43. After that, though, the rest just couldn’t step up, and the chase fizzled out.
