Moises Henriques switched allegiance to Portugal recently and is currently leading his side in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub-Regional Europe Qualifier C 2026, currently being played in Finland.
In his three matches so far, he has hit 66* off 39 against Israel, 1 off 3 against Germany, and in the most recent match on August 20 (Thursday), he smashed his maiden T20 International (T20I) century with 111 off just 51 deliveries against the Czech Republic at the Tikkurila Cricket Ground in Vantaa.
Born in Funchal, Portugal, the former Australia all-rounder hit 12 fours and seven sixes along the way and got to his ton off just 48 deliveries. Riding on his ton, Portugal got to 211/6 and won the match by 91 runs via the DLS method.
In doing so, Henriques became the fourth-oldest player to score a T20I century

He is also the second-oldest captain to score a century in men’s T20Is after Avinash Pai.
Henriques last played for Australia in 2021, and had managed just 355 runs in 21 innings at a strike rate of 124.56. However, he had a successful career with the Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League, where he smashed 3,324 runs in 145 innings, and is also the second-highest run-getter in the tournament’s history after Chris Lynn. He also picked up 22 wickets with his medium pace.
The ongoing tournament in Finland is to determine the team that will progress to the regional final, where they will come up against Scotland and two other teams from ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub Regional Europe Qualifier A in the Regional Final.
The final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub Regional Europe Qualifier C will be played between Portugal and Spain on August 21 (Friday) at the Kerava National Cricket Ground. Only one of those teams will make it through to the regional final.
