Dube explains the challenges of bowling a final over in T20 WC semi-final

Shivam Dube spoke about the dramatic final over against England in the T20 World Cup semi-final in Mumbai. With England needing 30 runs from the last over, India called Dube who had not bowled until then. Dube admitted he was nervous but ready for the challenge. He eventually helped India cement a place in the final.

In a video shared by the BCCI, Dube said, “I just wanted to back myself. I knew the first two balls of the over would be crucial, so my focus was on getting them right because that could decide the game. It had already been decided that I would bowl the last over. I was definitely nervous – bowling the final over of a World Cup semi-final is always challenging.”

Michael Clarke predicts the POTM for T20 WC final

Michael Clarke believes that Jasprit Bumrah could be the player of the match in the T20 World Cup final against England. His comment was based on the consistent impact throughout the tournament that took India to the final convincingly. In the high-scoring semifinal that saw India winning the match by seven runs, Bumrah played a pivotal role in the 18th over where he gave away just six runs.

So far in the tournament, Bumrah is India’s second-highest wicket-taker, claiming 10 wickets from seven matches at an average of 15.90 and an economy rate of 6.62. “One thing is having so many options (variations), but most importantly, having the skills to execute under pressure. This is what makes him the best in the world. He has been a defining factor for India. I wouldn’t be surprised if he is Man of the Match in the final. He’s just so dominant,” said Clarke.

England women to travel to SA to prepare for the camp ahead of T20 WC

A group of 30 England women cricketers will head to South Africa to begin making their cases for selection ahead of a home T20 World Cup later this year. Their plan of traveling to Abu Dhabi for a preparation camp has to be rearranged because of the ongoing conflict.

England Women’s head coach Charlotte Edwards said, “This is a big opportunity for every player involved to put their hand up and demonstrate that they’re an invaluable part of our World Cup plans. It’s the same chance for every player, whether they’re new to the team or they’ve played 100 games. We want to use this series as a chance to stretch ourselves and put ourselves under pressure in competitive match situations.”
