Ishan Kishan to lead Sunrisers Hyderabad in absence of Cummins
In absence of Pat Cummins, Ishan Kishan will lead Sunrisers Hyderabad in the early part of IPL 2026. As per reports, the franchise decided to appoint him as interim captain while Abhishek Sharma will serve as the vice-captain of the team. Cummins will join the side in Hyderabad on March 23 after getting the clearance from Cricket Australia to travel to the IPL.
This will only be the second season when all ten teams start with Indian captains. Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma played key roles in India’s victory at the T20 World Cup 2026. However, they do not have the experience of leading an IPL team before. Kishan was bought by SRH ahead of IPL 2025 and he ended the season with 354 runs at a strike rate of 152.58 including an unbeaten century on his debut for the team.
Jos Buttler hopeful about his international cricket career
Jos Buttler is hopeful about his international cricket career despite a disappointing T20 World Cup that saw him making 87 runs in eight innings. On his podcast, For the Love of Cricket, Buttler said, “Obviously I had a poor tournament, which is disappointing, but I’ve been playing some of the best cricket of my [career] in recent years, so hopefully I can get back to playing my best.”
He added, “Obviously the tournament didn’t go personally how I’d have liked it to go, and I just felt like I needed some space from cricket and not to think about the game, and I could not have been further away from cricket where I was in that week.
Bangladesh sports minister to consult ICC regarding the future of BCB
Bangladesh’s sports minister Aminul Haque is going to consult the ICC before taking a final decision on the future of the Bangladesh Cricket Board. Reportedly, the sports ministry is planning to appoint a second committee to investigate why Bangladesh could not participate in the recently concluded men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.
Haque, a former Bangladesh football captain, said on Tuesday, “We are all aware of direct interference from our previous government in the BCB elections last year. I have spoken about it on a number of occasions. Following allegations from Dhaka clubs and the districts, we have formed an investigation committee. I will read their report, but my next step will come after I have spoken to the ICC.”
