T20 World Cup 2026: In the 22nd match of the T20 World Cup 2026, the Ireland cricket team put on a spectacular performance, defeating the Oman cricket team by 96 runs. This is Ireland’s first win in this World Cup, while Oman suffered its third consecutive defeat. Batting first, Ireland posted a record score of 235/5. In response, Oman was bundled out for 139 runs in 18 overs. With this win, Ireland remain in contention for a Super 8 spot, while Oman’s hopes of making the next round are all but over after these three consecutive defeats.

Ireland lost the toss and was invited to bat first. But that didn’t slow them down. They hammered their way to 235 for 5, which is the second-highest total ever in T20 World Cup history. Things looked rough at first for them as they lost 4 wickets for just 64 runs. It was not a great start in real terms.
Then Lorcan Tucker and Gareth Delany stepped up and turned it around. They put on 101 runs together for the fifth wicket in just 56 balls. Delany smashed 56 off 30, sending three balls to the boundary and four over boundaries. Tucker, the captain, led from the front and stayed unbeaten on 94 from 51 balls, peppering the field with ten fours and four sixes. After that, Jordan Dockrell joined in and went wild scoring 35 runs off just 9 balls. That included five towering sixes. Those two piled on 70 runs for the sixth wicket in only 19 balls.

Oman had to chase a massive 236, but they just couldn’t keep up. Aamir Kaleem opened with a quickfire 50 from 29 balls and Hammad Mirza made 46 from 37. But after them, nobody else got going. Eight batsmen didn’t even reach double digits. Oman folded for 139 in 18 overs. For Ireland, Josh Little grabbed three wickets, while Matthew Humphreys and Barry McCarthy picked up two each. George Dockrell chipped in with one as well.
