Vaibhav Suryavanshi has gotten off to a stunning start in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. After impressing in the first season for Rajasthan Royals (RR), the teenager smashed a 17-ball fifty in the season opener against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Guwahati on March 30 (Monday).
With this, he nearly broke the record set by his opening partner, Yashasvi Jaiswal, who in 2023 smashed the fastest half-century in IPL history, getting to the landmark in just 13 deliveries against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

Suryavanshi was eventually dismissed for 52 off just 17 deliveries with four fours and five sixes punctuating his innings.
In his debut season last year, Suryavanshi smashed 252 runs at an impressive strike rate of 206.55. He smashed 101 off just 38 balls against Gujarat Titans (GT), making him the youngest T20 centurion.
In the ongoing match, he put on 75 for the first wicket in just 6.2 overs to put RR on top in pursuit of CSK’s 128.
