The India Premier League (IPL) 2026 season is set to get underway from March 28 (Saturday), with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) taking on Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Bengaluru. Ahead of the tournament, former RCB, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Delhi Capitals (DC) batter Faf du Plessis believes Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain Rishabh Pant will be under immense pressure in the tournament.
Pant did not have the best of seasons last year, as he managed just 269 runs in 14 matches, which included a century and a fifty. Outside those two knocks, the wicketkeeper-batter did not do much.
“For me, Rishabh Pant is probably the player in the IPL who is under the most pressure this season. Some guys flourish under the pressure of the price tag, while some do not. I think last season was a really tough one for him. The team struggled, and he also struggled with runs in the way that he batted. So, there is all that pressure coming into the season, along with the expectations of what the team is going to do,” he said.
LSG finished a disappointing seventh last season with just 12 points. They begin their IPL 2026 campaign against Delhi Capitals (DC) in Lucknow on April 1 (Wednesday).
