Shubman Gill was looking in fine touch in Gujarat Titans’ (GT) first Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 match against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Mullanpur on March 31 (Tuesday) until Yuzvendra Chahal came into the attack. Gill has had his troubles in the past against Chahal and fell to him once again.
No bowler has dismissed Gill more than Chahal in the IPL, dismissing home for the fourth time. Deepak Chahar, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Avesh Khan and Hardik Pandya have also gotten the better of Gill on four occasions.
Among spinners, Chahal has dismissed Gill the most times in IPL.

Against Chahal, Gil has scored 69 runs from 57 deliveries at a strike rate of 121.05. In fact, Gill has never hit Chahal for a six in IPL. The first time the leg-spinner dismissed Gill was back in 2021 in Abu Dhabi when he was part of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Then, Chahal had Gill stumped in back-to-back seasons while with Rajasthan Royals (RR) and today, he was caught at deep mid-wicket for 39 off 27 deliveries.
Chahal, the leading wicket-taker in IPL, is now off the mark this season to add to the 16 he picked up last season to help PBKS to the final.
Earlier today, PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and opted to field. All three previous matches this season have been won by the chasing team.
