AUS W vs IND W: The Indian and Australian women’s teams are facing off in the pink-ball test at Perth. At stumps on Day 1, Australia sits at 96 for 3, still 102 runs behind India’s first innings total. India batted first but couldn’t get going, bowled out for just 198. Jemimah Rodrigues stood out, hitting a gritty half-century (52), but most of the others struggled.

Asked to bat first, Smriti Mandhana went early for 4 and even skipper Harmanpreet Kaur couldn’t make an impact. Shefali Verma tried to push the pace, making 35, but wickets kept tumbling one after the other. Pratika Rawal and Harmanpreet both left cheaply, and India was wobbling at 84 for four. Deepti Sharma dug in but only managed 7. By the time India lost their fifth wicket at 107, even 150 looked tough.
Jemimah Rodrigues kept India afloat from one end, and after the sixth wicket fell at 150, Kashvi Gautam chipped in with an unbeaten 34 to nudge the total close to 200. Australia’s reply didn’t start much better. Georgia Wall and Phoebe Litchfield were gone quickly for 2 and 9. Captain Alyssa Healy, playing her final international game, managed just 13 before getting out.

At the end of the day, experienced customer Ellyse Perry is still there on the pitch scoring 43, with all-rounder Annabel Sutherland supporting her with a well-fought 20. For India women, Sayali Satghare scalped 2 wickets on the first day of the game. Now, Australia has work to do as they are still trailing by 102 runs with plenty of cricket left.
