New Zealand all-rounder Amelia Kerr smashed her second Women’s T20 International (WT20I) century in the fifth game of the series against South Africa in Christchurch on March 25 (Wednesday). Walking in at three, Kerr smashed 105 off just 55 deliveries to help New Zealand to 194/6. That proved to be enough as South Africa managed just 102/9, handing New Zealand a comfortable 92-run victory.
With this win, New Zealand have clinched the five-match series 4-1. Kerr was not just named the Player of the Match but also walked away with the Player of the Series as well, for her 276 runs and five wickets.
Kerr just did not score a century in the fifth T20I, but also finished with figures of 2/6. As a result, she became the first New Zealand Woman to score a century and pick up two or more wickets in the same match on more than one occasion. Before her, only one other player – Deepika Rasangika – had achieved this feat.
Previously, she had scored an unbeaten 101 and picked up 2/14 against Zimbabwe Women last month. Moreover, this was also her 11th consecutive T20I score in excess of 30 – yet another world record.
