Bangladesh resumed Day 2 at 317/8 and added valuable runs to their overnight score, eventually being bowled out for 346 in 92.3 overs. Abdul Malik-Rahmat Shah leads Afghanistan’s resistance
Afghanistan’s response began with an early setback as Hasan Mahmud dismissed Sediqullah Atal for 17. However, Abdul Malik steadied the innings with a composed half-century, showing patience against Bangladesh’s bowling attack.
Shahidullah Kamal contributed 20 before Ebadot Hossain removed him, leaving Afghanistan needing another partnership to rebuild their innings. Malik then joined Rahmat Shah at the crease, and the pair put together a determined stand to frustrate Bangladesh.
Malik (62) brought up his maiden Test half-century and continued to anchor the innings, while Rahmat (84*) provided support at the other end. Their partnership helped Afghanistan recover from the loss of two early wickets and remain competitive.
With Afghanistan trailing by 135 runs at stumps, the hosts still had significant work to do to erase Bangladesh’s advantage. The next day’s play will be crucial, with Afghanistan needing to build partnerships and avoid further setbacks to keep the contest evenly poised.
